Abstract:
In medicine, pain is a complicated and multifaceted concept, with an objective nociceptive component and a subjective component comprising all psychological suffering. This makes the pain particularly difficult to understand and treat. Regarding pharmacological treatment, a variety of analgesic drugs have been developed and widely used for the management, especially of chronic pain, including antiepileptic drugs, SSRIs, NSAIDs, and often opioids in refractory cases, all of which have various degrees of effectiveness and, above all, negative effects in the long term use. Thus, for several years, researchers have been working to find new ways of taking charge and managing pain associated with numerous pathologies. In recent years, several studies consider that the use of cannabinoids and their derivatives, extracted from Cannabis, are of real relevance in the management of pain. The utility of these derivatives has been explored in various forms of pain. One of the cannabinoid derivatives, CBD has received a lot of attention in the field of chronic pain research as a possible new treatment option with a lower risk of addiction compared to current standard treatments.
