Abstract:
The evidence associated with stone formation in one centre in England (Bristol) has been presented. The correction of metabolic, anatomical or infective abnormalities has led to an acceptable low level of recurrence. A rising incidence in this centre, particularly in relation to the upper urinary tract may be associated with a change in the pathogenicity of Proteus as well as other more obvious environmental factors that have been previously documented.
