Abstract:
Pakistan is faced with the problems of tuberculosis control particularly in rural areas where 75% of population lives. According to the National Tuberculosis Programme, case finding in the rural areas will be based on sputum microscopy by trained technician who will play a key role. He should be provided with refresher courses frequently arranged. He should be allowed to work independently & exclusively. In these circumstances multipurpose technicians would not be feasible.
