The French have experimented with ionising acupuncture, and diathemopuncture, the Koreans with a radio isotope-needle, the Japanese with a micro-bleeding needle. There is a room for imaginative and original research perhaps commencing with ultra-sonic acupuncture or relating acupuncture to connective tissue techniques. All disturbances of functions and psychosomatic disorders neurotic and neuralgic pain, herpeszoster, recent injuries, muscle spasm, lumbago and back pain are the conditions all very familiar, to the physiotherapist who is to determine the role of acupuncture in physical medicine.
