Abstract:
So far no cotton opening and cleaning machine has been developed capable of separating completely lint and non-lint matter of cotton. With conventional machines not only seperation of lint and trash is incomplete, but also some of the extracted trash recombines with the cotton. Experiments conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Cotton Research & Technology with Air stream cleaner - essentially a Kirschner beater, have given better results in the cleaning of opened cotton.
