Abstract:
One of the fastest growing forms of global waste is the electronic waste. Some of electronic items contain dangerous materials including radioactive pieces. Heavy metals including lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury are used in electronic equipment. When disposed off they can leach from landfills into the water table thus contaminating our groundwater resources. These heavy metals are threat to the environment due to their toxity and their disposal requires environmentally sound practices. The present article emphasizes on the problem of electronic waste as hazard for environmental health and importance of developing best practices for disposal of e-waste
