WLAN frequency offset estimation using short preamble.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a technique for frequency synchronization that is frequency offset estimation in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver. In this paper the authors have estimated frequency offset using 802.11.a short preamble. It uses a preamble which is especially suitable for burst mode communication. Offset estimation using short preamble is within the IEEE 802.11a specified range i.e. 232KHz. They have not discussed the effect of inter carrier interference (ICI) between the sub-carriers that occurs in the presence of frequency offset.
