Abstract:
Twentyseven gram (Cicer arietinum Linn.) varieties, received from the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, were tested for their comparative resistance/ susceptibility against two species of Bruchidae, Callosobruchus analis (Fbr.) and Callosobruchus chinensis (Linn.) during 1971 Variety 6565 proved the most susceptible to both the species. VAriety 6551 was highly resistant to the attack of C. analis (showing 1.5 percent weight loss) and immune towards C. for no egg was laid by the latter species on it. Varieties 6153, 6504 and 6554 were found resistant to C. chinensis, whereas highly susceptible to the infestation of C. anilis.
