Abstract:
The adsorption of Cu(II), Zn(II), and Co(II) on a-aluminium hydroxide was investigated as a function of temperature. Adsorption was found to increase with increasing temperature and the adsorption sequence was in the order: Cu(II) Zn(II) Co(II) Ni(II). The experimental results were analysed by the langmuir adsorption equation. The limiting amount adsorbed, Xm, of the four metal ions increases as the temperature of the system is increased. The adsorption results have been used to calculate the apparent thermodynamic parameters, AG°, AR° and AS°.
