Way for Development: Urban Renewal by using Geographical Information System in Local Government in Punjab.

Abstract:
The challenges facing by Local Government for Urban Renewal have been recognized same number of many faceted issues which requires detailed procedure. In Punjab, the government at provincial and local level with the help of theory, experiments and investigates its methodologies in implementing the development plans as well as renewing the deteriorated city areas. This research explores the detailed procedure of urban renewal by examining the capacity of institutions and governance system in Punjab. Institutional limits of planning administration will be assessed and considered related to urban renewal. Neighborhood Community is the first and last components, focus to Urban Renewal choices and plans are the association which tried to explain at Local level all through the research. Each aspect is examined in area that helped to learn lessons from capacity of institutions. In this research use of GIS is presented as an example in case of Lahore and developed attributes of GIS database for urban renewal projects of old areas.
