Abstract:
Botanical garden is a documented collection of living plants under scientific management for educational and research purposes. Introduced species are species that are taken away from their natural habitat and introduced into a new environment by humans either intentionally or unintentionally. Nusrat Jahan College Rabwah, Chenab Nagar contains different plant species including native, regional and some invasive plants from 2015-2017 thus it has rich flora and diversity of plant species that can be used for educational and research purposes. This survey research was based on photographic identification and the documentation of all species found in Nusrat Jahan College, which was done in November-December 2022. NJC flora include 38 families; 35 families belong to angiosperms including 25 dicotyledons represented by 50 species of 61% of NJC plants and 10 monocotyledons represented by 26 species of 31.7% of NJC flora. On the other hand, only 3 families are Gymnosperms which consists of 6 species of 7.3% NJC plant population. 14 plant species are deciduous making up 17.1% of the population while 68 species are evergreen which contributes to a total 82.9% of flora of NJC. Only 8 plant species are native that make up 9.8% of flora and 74 species are introduced making up 90.2% of Nusrat Jahan College flora. The main objective is to critically analyze the collected data, describing the scientific names, family, life cycle (perennial, annual and biennial), leave type (deciduous, evergreen), Growth form (herb, shrub, tree), status in Pakistan, preferred climatic zones of the plants on NJC grounds thus making an inventory of all flora found in NJC grounds and ultimately converting Nusrat Jahan College status as a botanical garden.
