Abstract:
In order to judge the therapeutic efficacy of thiamine (vitamin Bi) in B-complex preparations, three commercial syrup preparations were analyzed for thiamine content and their blood absorption in rabbits was compared with that of thiamine as a single entity. A separate experiment was performed to find the effect of sugar concentration on the blood absorption of thiamin. The difference in the quantitative values of vitamin Bi absorbed in the single and compound preparations under the same conditions has been assumed as one of the criteria to ascertain the therapeutic efficiency of both the forms.
