Abstract:
The characters studied in common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were number of spikelets per spike, 1000-kernel weight and the yield of grains per plant. The results reveal that partitioning the F2 diallel table into two sub-sets of five array each with male and female parent constant respectively affects the array variances (Vr) and the array parent offspring covariances (Wr). This effect is reflected in the position of the parents with respect of order of dominance and proportion of negative and positive effects of genes, for all the characters studied. Additive components of variation (D and h2) remain unaffected.
