Abstract:
The rice cultivar IRRI-6 was grown at spacing of 15 x 15, 20 x 20, 25 x 25, 30 x 30 and 40 x 40 cm between hills and rows to evaluate their effects on growth, yield and yield components. Increased spacing significantly increased the number of total as well as panicle bearing tillers per hill and the number of grains per panicle. The plant height, 1000 grain weight and grain yield were not affected significantly by the spacing tried. The maximum grain yield of 62.33 quintals/hectare was obtained by growing rice cultivar IRRI-6 at spacing of 20 x 20 cm. between hills and rows.
