Abstract:
A procedure is described which provides a test of significance, based on Monte Carlo generated empirical distributions, to check the significance of the similarity between two ordinations. The implementation of the method is illustrated through a numerical example pertaining to ordinations of a desert vegetation. The usefulness of Monte Carlo methods involving distance matrices discussed.
