Abstract:
Spacing experiments were conducted during 1961-64 for studying the effect on yield and quality of tobacco. It was found that tobacco can be planted in as wide rows as 4 feet with plant spacing of 18 inches without affecting the yield, quality or income. Planting in the wider 'spacing permits of economy in the cultural operations such as hoeing, spraying, picking etc. Data for yield, total bright leaf equivalent and top percent are tabulated.
