Abstract:

This study was conducted in selected areas of Agro ecological Zones-2 and 3 (district Muzaffarabad, Poonch and Samahni - Bhimbe) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in order to estimate the technical efficiency through Stochastic Cobb-Douglas Production Frontier. The mean technical efficiency index was 68% with minimum of 30% and maximum of 94%. Farmers with more age and more education are technical less efficient while farmers with larger farm size and having greater contact with extension agents were found more efficient. Tractor hours, use of farm yard manure and labour days contribute significantly to maize productivity while insignificant effect of any chemical fertilizer was found in maize productivity.
