Abstract:
Two vertical hydraulic turbines of small size and low cost are installed in parallel at water fall site: Both turbines are coupled together with intermediate speed-increasing system. The net tractive effort is given to a single generator to estimate the output power from generator. Both turbines are identical in construction and in installation. Experiments were carried out under special conditions on the combined system. The analysis of test results indicate that overall efficiency of system is low but sufficient tractive effort can be developed to run a small generator. The main purpose of this work and study of system is to assess the power developed by such turbines for giving electrical energy to nearby surrounding areas.
