1. Role of VA mycorrhiza as a deterrent against pathogenic infections caused by Fusarium moniliforme in Brassica oleracea.

Abstract
Non mycorrhizal and preinoculated VA mycorrhizal seedlings of Brassica oleracea were exposed to Fusarium moniliforme at 10, 15, 20, 25% soil moisture contents at 18°C temperature and a light intensity of 1500 lux. Pre inoculated VA mycorrhizal seedlings of B. oleracea showed a significant reduction in pathogenic invasion at 20% soil moisture content by F. moniliforme. Non mycorrhizal B. oleracea plants showed a high degree of susceptibility to pathogenic invasion by F. Moniliforme. Preinoculated mycorrhizal plants showed a significant increase in the dry weight of shoot. Highest pathogenic infections by F. moniliforme occurred at 25% soil moisture contents and a significant reduction in dry weight of shoot was recorded at this soil moisture level. At the same soil moisture level (25%) a significant reduction occurred in VA infections.
