Abstract:
On the basis of Forster-theory of dipole-dipole resonance transfer, the rate constants of energy transfer between the protein molecule Tryptophan and certain aromatic hydrocarbons were calculated with the help of known fluorescent spectrum data of Tryptophan and the absorption spectrum data of the above mentioned hydrocarbons. This was done with a view to check a recently proposed physical theory of carcinogenesis.
