Abstract:
between the twin and triple borings for tube wells in search of sweet water in saline zone. A number of twin and triple boring with a discharge ranging from 0.5 cusec to 2 cusecs keeping each tube-well at a distance of 25fts. which is approximate depth of saturated acquifer available in the water-logged tracts of Bahawalpur division. As the strata encountered in these tracts are composed of medium fine sand, coir strainer with a bigger diameter was used to get more water. Such tube-wells are not only useful for water supply to that area but also help in depressing sub-soil water level and thereby serve as an anti water-logging device. For this purpose tube-wells should be kept about half a mile away from canals.
