Abstract:
Foliar anatomy of 12 genera and 24 species of Gymnosperms of Pakistan have been, investigated. A brief review of anatomical characters of leaves is given and their taxonomic importance is emphasized. A key is constructed which is entirely based on the characters of leaf anatomy. 10 original photographs are given to illustrate the general variation in foliar anatomy. It is emphasized that foliar characters of leaf anatomy furnish a new set of useful taxonomic characters which could be used in conjunction with characters from morphology in the classification of gymnosperms of Pakistan.
