Abstract:
Seventeen species of green microalgae belonging to four genera of the classes Volvocophyceae Shameel and Desmidiophyceae Shameel were collected from fountain waters of different historical places at Lahore City of Pakistan during March and August 1996. They were taxonomically determined and described for the first time from their area of collection. They were found to grow during spring and summer in the free-floating state. Eudorina elegans, Oocystis marssonii and eleven species of Cosmarium are being reported for the first time from Pakistan.
