Abstract:
Biochemical serum analysis showed that sheep naturally infested with Sarcoptes scabiei var ovis suffered from remarkable disturbances in some minerals and trace element levels. Calcium, inorganic phosphorus and magnesium levels were sharply decreased. Indeed, iron and copper levels showed a significant change towards the negative balance. This was indicated by the appearance of anemia and general clinical manifestations associated with severe sarcoptic mange infection.
