Abstract:
Mega goitre is a surgical emergency if the patients have ked dyspnoea. More often it happens in malignant thyroids. Respiratory difficulty must be relieved as soon as possible. Tracheal intubation is the best method to achieve. This should be done without administering anaesthesia or a muscle relaxant. Other investigations should follow and the patient should be prepared for formal thyroitomy.
