Abstract:
Disasters both natural and manmade can create widespread destruction and communications with outside world can totally be destroyed. A critical problem is the provision of communications facility to the disaster victims prior to the arrival of rescue teams; this allows survivors to communicate among them and help each other. To address this problem, we propose a Hierarchical Cognitive Radio Network (H-CRN) scheme for emergency situations specifically for post-disaster communications. End-to-end delay and spectrum efficiency is investigated for measuring performance.
