Abstract:
A 25 year old woman with incompetent cervix was admitted to the hospital. The fundal height corresponded to 25 weeks pregnancy and the cervix admitted one finger with ease. The patient was operated and the cervical canal was closed with a purse-string suture of stainless steel wire no. 34. The cervix was examined at weekly intervals. When she started having labour pains, the cervical suture was cut and removed. She had a spontaneous delivery of a living female infant.
