Abstract:
The objective of this article is to discuss the limitations of early generations of Cellular Networks that led to the evolution of the mobile communication. It also presents the requirements & challenges for the future heterogeneous networks. This articles sheds light of one of the integrated WLAN-Cellular network architecture which third generation partnership project (3GPP) has also included in its Release 6 i.e. Generic Access Network (GAN) formally called Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA). This article analyzes the limitations of the above mentioned solution and suggests future guidelines for Future Heterogeneous Networks.
