Abstract:
Cloud computing is an emerging new field of Information Technology both for industry, research, and the education sector. This technology can be utilized in the application areas where computer and related resources are needed for the data processing and knowledge management needs of the organizations. One of the most recent trends is to utilize cloud computing applications in the field of education. This paper presents a university academic cloud model and its necessary components. Since an academic cloud is definitely a new way of delivering knowledge to the community with minimum cost and less effort, it will be highly beneficial if it is deployed in areas where there are lot of problems like physical access to resources and lack of funds. The paper also discusses other important usage scenarios of the presented academic cloud. If implemented, such type of academic cloud can be an asset for a university as well as for the whole user community.
