Abstract:

A text based Urdu word processor/editor (IIUWORD) is presented. A comparison between a text and graphic based approach is also provided to understand the other application areas of such editors. Some common applications that can be developed using a text based Urdu character set, are also discussed. The need to standardize Urdu characters and their ASCII codes is emphasized.
