Abstract:
The available data on the distribution of the Himalayan birds and vegetation have been analysed. A tentative suggestion has been put forward for biogeographical divisions of the afforested region of the Himalayas that lies between the gorges of the Indus and the Bramha-putra. It has been suggested that this region, excluding the foothills, should be divided into three zones namely, pine-forest zone, oak-forest zone and deodar forest zone.
