Abstract:
Figures relating to the incidence of caries in 2, 49, 502 patients are presented and analyzed. The reasons suggested for the high incidence of caries are: (1) change in the traditional dietary pattern, (2) more consumption of refined food and (3) an unsatisfactory dentist-patient ratio. A programme designed to educate the masses in dental hygiene is proposed, with special emphasis on prevention of dental disease.
