Abstract:
The work of introduction of Brown trout (Salme fario) has been centred on Kagan Valley, Swat and Chitral. It is estimated that about 1100, 00 fries of this species reared in the hatcheries of Shinu, Madyan, Jaghoor and Bombret have been released in the cold water streams of this area since the commencement of this work. Rainbow trout is cultivated in such waters where Brown trouts do not flourish. The former has greater tolerance for higher temperature and faster growth rate.
