Abstract:
The 70’s were the manpower decade in Pakistan. Previously the country was badly in the grip of unemployment and over population. But a wave of development in Middle East and migration of skilled, semi skilled and unskilled labour from Pakistan to these countries changed the whole patterns and definitions of population planning. Now the need of the time becomes Manpower Planning. In 1973 Government established Manpower Institute and some work on scientific grounds was started to deal with human resources. This paper is an extension of the paper Measures of Demographic Dimensions of Labour force in Pakistan where age, specific activity rate, gross years of active life and dependency have been calculated. The main difficulty faced was the non availability of Life Table for Pakistan. The Abridged Life Table was used and projected for the period 1970-75.
