Abstract:
Six species of Pakistan mosquitoes have been anlayzed for their susceptibility to the Microsporidian protozoon, Nosema algerae. The infections in Anopheles stephensi, An. pulcherrimus, An. culicifacies and An. annularis were heavy, while the infections in An. subpictus and Culex pipiens fotigans were light. Nosema algerae has great potential as a biological control agent of many anopheline mosquitoes.
