Abstract:
There is an obvious advantage of the acupuncture technique. It is simple, cheap and more economical. It does away with the use of large number of important medicines and relieves the burden of many chemicals acting on the systems of the patient. It shortens the period of treatment and hospitalization. It also seems to influence the psychological desire` for the drug of dependence. It requires follow up to confirm but it does appear more hopeful for their easier rehabilitation. It has also helped in control of the withdrawal symptoms of drugs other than opiates like barbiturates, amphetamines, methaquolone etc. Electro acupuncture is an effective, simple and more economical method of detoxification of opiate dependants.
