The Reality of Electronic Academic Supervision of Graduate Students in Palestinian Universities from the Perspective of Faculty Members in Palestinian Universities

Abstract:
The current study aimed to explore the reality and challenges of electronic academic supervision for postgraduate students in Palestinian universities from the perspective of faculty members. A mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies through interviews, was utilized to achieve the study objectives. The study population consisted academic of 500 faculty members in Palestinian universities. A stratified random sample of 218 academic faculty members was selected from universities representing the study population, namely Al-Quds Open University, the Arab American University, and Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, constituting 41.6% of the total population. Surveys were distributed to all sampled participants, and interviews were conducted with 10 faculty members from the three universities. To collect the required data, a questionnaire and interviews were developed. The results revealed a high level of electronic academic supervision practices for postgraduate students in Palestinian universities, with no statistically significant differences based on gender or years of experience. The quantitative analysis emphasized the widespread practice of electronic academic supervision, which was corroborated by the qualitative analysis, highlighting the support for technology use and the enhancement of the supervisor-student relationship.
