Abstract:
BH-118 is the result of continuous, devoted and sincere effort of the agricultural scientists of Cotton Research Station, Bahawalpur. It is a local cross, attempted during 1989-90. A promising line 675-6195 was selected in F6 generation during 1994-95. This line was tested in a series or trials at various locations throughout Punjab, in comparison with check varieties for yield, fibre -characteristics, response to insect pests and cotton-leaf curl virus (CLCV). On the basis of average of all trials, BH-118 performed better than the checks. It is tolerant to drought, heat, insect-pests and completely resistant to CLCV. The Punjab Seed Council, Lahore, approved it with the name of 13Fl-118, during its 23rd meeting held on 19-0.4-2000 under the chairmanship of Dr. Khalid Ranjha, Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights, Punjab. It was released for general cultivation in Southern Punjab.
