Abstract:
To evaluate the effect of nitrogenous fertilizer on root yield and quality of sugarbeet, the experiments were conducted for three years (1982-85) at Sugar Crops Research Institute, Mardan. Root yield was found to be significantly affected by the application of nitrogenous fertilizer. The application of 120 kg nitrogen per hectare at the time of planting resulted in the production of good quality beet crop. The excessive and late application of nitrogen did not have a significant effect on the root yield but had an adverse effect on the sucrose content.
