Abstract:
This study discusses the physico-chemical study of coal obtained from the newly explored mines at Jabba Taar and Jabba Khushk District Nowshera Khyber pakhtoon khwa Pakistan. The newly found coal has been studied for different physical and chemical parameters, like moisture, volatile matter, ash, calorific value, carbon, and sulfur using different thermal analytical techniques. The residue (Ash) lift after the burning of coal has been analyzed for mineralogical composition. Coal samples on average basis were found to contain 16.18% moisture, 41.64% volatile matter, 19.32% Ash, 17.162% carbon, 5.16% sulfur, 1.801% hydrogen and calorific value of 5450 kcal/kg. Coal residue was found to contain 52.34% silica; the coal may be used as a fuel in cement kiln after raw mix designing with the coal composition.
