Abstract:
Fourteen species of eight genera: Calonies, Colletonema, Luticola, Navicula, Neidium, Nitzschia, Pinnularia and Surirela belonging to four families of the order Bacillariales (Phylum Bacillariophyta) were collected from fountain waters of different historical places at Lahore City during March and August 1996. They were taxonomically investigated and have been described. Among them the genus Luticola as well as species like Calonies lepidiformis, Colletonema eximum, C. neglectum, C. subcohaerens, Neidium affine and Surirella delicatissima are being reported for the first time from any area of Pakistan.
