Taxonomic study of the family Scenedesmaceae (Volvocophyta shameel) in certain North-eastern areas of Pakistan.

Abstract:
Twelve species of non-motile, green, microalgae including one species of the genus Crucigeniella and eleven of Scenedesmus were collected from various freshwater habitats in Gujranwala, Jauharabad, Lahore and Sialkot districts of the Punjab, Attock of NWFP and Chenari & Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir during February 2004-September 2006. They were taxonomically investigated and described for the first time frown their area of collection. The genus Crucigeniella is being reported for the first time from Pakistan. These species were mostly found in free-floating condition and Occurred in different seasons.
