Abstract:
In MI generation of X-rays treated Petunia hybrids, plants with a very large number of chromosomes, instead of usual 1n-14, were noticed. This unusual increase in the number of chromosomes was responsible for (i) abnormal behaviour during meiosis in the P. M. C., (ii) formation of lots by sticking of the chromosomes and (iii) subsequent striking changes in plant morphology.
