Three years experience with glibenclamide in the maturity onset diabetes mellitus.

Abstract:
Two hundred and eighty two patients with maturity onset diabetes mellitus were treated with Glibenclamide and followed up over a period ranging from three months up to 3 years. Excellent to good control was achieved in 179 out of 282 cases. A trial of Glibenclamide in 45 secondary failures on the sulphenylurea showed an improvement in status to satisfactory level in about 50% over the period of observation. Over three years period, the drug has been without any serious toxic effect in the dosage recommended.
