Abstract:

Taxometric Studies on six valid world species (excluding corallifera Kirkaldy which is probably a synonym of pauli Horvath) of the carpocorine Stink bug genus Mormidella Horvath i. e. two of Ahmad et al's afzali and heissi, two of Hoberlandt's montana and nepalensis (latter originally proposed under mimordella Hoberlandt) and pauli and phalerata (Jakovlev) together with magnanima Ahmad and Kamaluddin and murriensis Afzal and Hasan (originally proposed under Mormidella and recently treated as Kamaliana Ahmad and Zaidi) and one representative of each of Manoriana Ahmad and Kamaluddin, Mimula Jakovlev, Risbia Horvath, Rubiconia Dohrn and Palomena Mulsant and Rey (considered todate as most closely related to Mormidella) are carried out using the technique of cluster analysis and principal coordinate ordination. The results are discussed in the light of findings on cladistic analysis of representatives of the above genera by Kamaluddin and Ahmad (1994).
