Abstract:
This study was conducted to know the affect of drainage of tears from lacrimal sac into the middle meatus of the nose through a short circuit made in the lacrimal bone and nasal mucosa. This comparative study was carried out between intubnated & non-intubated dacrycystorhinostomies. In this cohort study 1000 cases, age ranged from 10-70 years with the history of watering from eye, were taken from LRBT Hospital Karachi. No significant difference was found in success rate. Looking at the cost of DCR tube and financial problems of most of Pakistani patients, DCR without intubation is recommended.
