Abstract:
To assess environmentally viable use of agricultural drainage water, it's quality was monitored during 1994 at Sump SIB9, Drainage IV Project Area. The EC,SAR and RSC remained in unfit range for both the tile drain and Samundri Branch Drain waters. The quality parameters had lower values for tile drain water than that of the surface drain water. However, during rainy seasons, July/August and January-March, there was a decrease in EC, SAR and RSC in both the types of water, decrease being more for surface drain water. The quality of water samples from the manhole 3 was found better because it is located about 300 meters North-West of Sump SIB9 in the canal irrigated fields. Samples from the manhole Nos. 1 and 2, located toward Samundri Branch Drain were very similar in quality to that of Sump S189.
