Abstract:
X-ray diffraction analysis and corroborative chemical work on samples of iron ore obtained from extensive deposits in Ziarat Valley, Quetta, has revealed iron contents of 18% to 40% with a mean value of nearly 29%' and titanium dioxide to the extent of 4 to 10% with a mean value of nearly 6.5%, samples poorer in iron content having higher proportion of titanium. The presence of 'Chamosite' a feruginon clay containing about 8% iron and having approximate formula 3(Fe,Mg) 0. A1203. 2SI02 in H2O presents a major obstacle in the recovery of iron.
