Abstract:
A brief survey of typhlocybine leafhoppers affecting vegetable plants was made in Pakistan. The results of 1493 samples collected indicated that nearly 39 species of leafhoppers infested 37 species of vegetable plants. Of these the plants observed to be seriously affected were potato, pumpkin, spinach, carrot, bitter gourd, brinjal, chillies, okra, turnip, tomato and sugarbeet. Emerging out as the most important species in these studies were Empoasca punjabensis which affected 35 out of 37 species of vegetable plants.
