Abstract:
A quantitative and qualitative survey of airborne pollen was carried out at Jamshoro Campus, University of Sindh. The study encompasses summer seasons of two years commencing from 16th June to 15th October 1987-1988. Special attention was given to the pollen grains of some eight families (Acanthaceae, Brassicaceae, Caesalpiniaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Liliaceae, Mimosaceae, Poaceae and Typhaceae) that reportedly cause allergic ailments in human beings. The data comprise pollen grains of 27 angiospermic families which were collected and identified during the course of study. The pollen production, dispersal and concentration apprised to be affected by some climatic factors such as temperature, humidity, wind velocity and sun-shine.
